Sept 26 - Oct 31

Needless to say we have been busy this past month and I have not had the time to sit and blog. Since the last post we have been exploring our neighborhood and enjoying the nice weather. We decorated the house and built this awesome playroom. Tilly went to a pumpkin patch for her first time for the ORFN halloween party i planned and she picked out the perfect white pumpkin. She also got to meet some chickens there whom she is still imitating. She proved to be a graceful gymnast at an ORFN playgroup we went to and is very social when it comes to parties. The first Halloween party we went to was at OHSU for the med students, Tilly loved looking at all the silly costumes and dancing on the lighted floor. When it came time for her birthday party on halloween she had a blast. All the kids played so well together and we just had a really fantastic time! Trick or treating was after dinner that night and she caught on very quickly- knocked on the door and when they opened she let herself in! She would say hi to the dogs, take some candy and run to the next house. It was such a fun day! I can't believe she is already two.

Richard has been keeping very busy with school studies and all of his extra circular activities. Its hard to believe he does so much and still helps so much around the house. Some weeks are harder than others and since we live further away now we see him less often.

I'll leave you now with a picture of the birthday girl. (a number 2 pencil and mama crayon)

Sept. 20-26th

Richard came home Monday night, it was so lovely to see him! He came in early Tuesday morning to say hi to Tilly but the entire day she was talking about him like she had dreamed him in her sleep. Tuesday night we all went to FMIG welcome dinner, where Richard is co-chair and Tilly and I love to see everyone. Wednesday I had some ORFN officers over to talk about the upcoming month while the kids played in the new playroom. Saturday Richard and Tilly went to the farmers market and brought home some wonderful peaches! After nap time Tilly and I went to music at the library where Tilly was told she is a musical genius because she stopped the music stopped and quited down and got loud when needed- so fun!!

Sept. 13-19th

Richard had his first exam on Monday, and of course afterward the 1st and 2nd years went out to celebrate. He had pcm on Tuesday, a simman on Wednesday, precept on Thursday and he left after class on Friday for an AMSA meeting in DC. Needless to say Tilly and I did not see him a lot this week. We kept busy with friends. Moses came over Monday night, and it was so much fun to see the 2 together again- its like they went right back to being besties. On Friday's we have been going to story time at the library, Tilly is doing a really wonderful job sitting on her own listening to the stories and playing with friends. Saturday we went with friends to the ORFN playgroup. We had so much fun berry picking!! Tilly ate her weight in raspberries and blueberries while we were there and even more when we got home. Sunday we took a walk to Kenny and Zukes to try out the food- it was delicious, and T absolutely loved the cheeseburger sliders. Walking home we stopped at the neighborhood block party and met some cool neighbors. We got a balloon then headed home when it started to rain a lot.

Sept. 6-12th

We had a nice labor day doing a little shopping at Ikea- so much fun ;/. After a full day shopping I met Jami for dinner and then the PFW meeting. Tilly and I have been hanging out during the week, bonding with Rhys and checking out the closest library. We went to story time on Friday and had a wonderful time. We had also been planning the ORFN picnic, it was Saturday evening and we had a great time meeting new people and chatting with friends. Richard had a busy week at school with a lot of meetings. Since his first test is Monday he has also been studying whenever possible. He did make it to the picnic with us and it made it even more fun.

Aug. 30th -Sept. 5th

Monday was Richards first day back at school. Since we live further away now and he bikes there, the comute is much longer. He often stays at school afterward to have meetings, study, plan events and all that good stuff he gets involved with. It was a busy week for that. He helped plan the med 13/14 bbq that was in Hoyt park on Friday. That day Tilly and I biked over to meet him and had a fun time at the bbq meeting some new people and chatting with some friends. During the week Tilly and I explored more of our new neighborhood, meeting some neighbors and dogs on our walks. We have been unpacking and planning and the house is really feeling like home. Some of Richards classmates decided to camping at Opal creek Sat. night because of the long weekend. We headed there with Krisanna and David. The real adventure started when we began the 3.5 mile hike to find a camp site. It was great to finally find one, set the tents up, and start the fire. Tilly was a wonderful camper and stayed nice and cozy in her sleeping suit and cuddled up with Richard. The next day before we left a few people jumped from the cliff into opal pool. Richard was among them and Tilly started crying and saying boo-boo when it was his turn. Very cute to see the love poor out of her. Soon after that we left and had a stop at a diner close by with everyone. Richard has such a fun class, and I am glad I got the chance to know some of them.

Aug. 23-29th

The 23rd we packed up once more and headed to the old mill in North Little Rock for a photo op and to say goodbye to gammie after which we headed to the airport Portland bound! We arrived late to our new home and got the beds situated so we could go to sleep. Tuesday was my 28th birthday and we spent the day unpacking and soaking up the nice weather. The next day we went to get Tilly and me a new bike to ride around town in. We also went to Krisanna and Davids house to celebrate. The rest of the week we spent unpacking, getting ready for school, and settling in to our new neighborhood. We now live in NW, we share a home with an OHSU resident and her family- whom I will be nannying for when she returns to work. It has been a busy summer but we had a blast and now we are happy to be settling in to a nice routine.

Aug. 16-22nd

This week we wrapped up our stay in Maryland. We went out to dinner to say goodbye to the Dunns one last time. We met our cousins Mark and Melanie out for dinner to catch up. We packed up all of our many things and headed to the airport Saturday morning. We arrived in Little Rock that afternoon and headed straight to Richard's grandmothers house, where we got to see Gammie and Genny. We played with them for a while then headed to Richard's high school friends Jeremy and Ashley's house. There we got to meet with a few freinds that where in town and all their new babies. We left there and went to Brunos little italy restuarant to meet more family and friends and eat wonderful pizza. After that long day we headed to my friends house where we got to settle down and take a fun bath with Laney.

Aug. 9-15th

Richard and I went to meet a psychiatrist near DC on Wednesday, we got to talk to him about the path he chose after med school and get some tips on what to expect from the years to come. We left Tilly with Mom-mom and she had a wonderful time playing. She is a changed little girl now, talking more and listening, and she is so well behaved when we go out. We went to my aunt Char's house in Baltimore on Friday, Richard took T to the aquarium while Char and I walked around. It was a lovely evening and we had a great dinner outside. Saturday morning we went to the farmers market with mom-mom then came home for a nap while Richard went to do some phone banking for health care reform. After nap time we all went to DC for our friends surprisulations engagement party. It was super fun and we had a great time hanging out with all of our friends. After the party we ran by the Lincoln memorial to take a few pictures. It was a gorgeous night again so we enjoyed a nice walk around the park. Sunday we started the day off at my moms long time friends house. We took the boat out and ran some lines for crabs, I got around 15-20. We ran back to the house in the rain and steamed the crabs and picked them as fast as we could... oh I wish I were not allergic! We came home for a nap then went back out to meet Richard friends from Princeton downtown. The rain left and the sun was shinning so we enjoyed a nice walk looking at all the historic buildings.

Aug. 2-8th

We spent tons of time with our favorite name sake Courtney Tillett this week, hanging out at her house and meeting her with Judi and Phil at the yacht club for Wednesday night races. Saturday we went to quiet waters park for another musical concert. Tilly had a great time meeting friends and dancing and came home to spend time with Mom-mom while Richard and I went to a movie. Sunday we went to brunch with Richard's cousins from Alexandria. They have a 7 year old son and a 2 1/2 year old daughter and it was fun to play downtown.

Richard went to a free clinic in DC on Wednesday where he volunteered with many other doctors who came in from all over the country to help the 1200 uninsured patients who came. Friday he went to a literary conference in Emmitsburg, MD on G. K. Chesterton. Sunday he stood in front of a library in Columbia, MD to talk to people about single payer health care.

July 26th - Aug 1st

Tilly, Mom-mom and I arrived back in MD on Monday and settled in for a busy week. Richard and I took a baptism prep class on Tuesday. Richard's parents came into town for Chealsea Clinton's wedding so we saw them for dinner Wednesday night before they headed up to NY. Thursday- Saturday Tilly and I played around town and visited Courtney a few times. The baptism was Sunday and Tilly did wonderfully. With help from Courtney she held her head back and let Father Kingsbury pour the water on her head. We celebrated over at the Dunn's house with the Herrmanns as well. It was so fun to see everyone and we had a great time in the baby pool! Gio and Marie Bruno got back late that night but in time to celebrate with us and share all the gossip from the wedding. Monday we spent the day downtown with Gio and Marie. We ate at Chick and Ruth's Deli where I had gone as a kid to see Teddy do his magic tricks, and Tilly got to experience the same thing! We walked the sea walk and went into some shops then headed home for a nap before Gio and Marie had to leave.

Thursday through Saturday Richard was in Kansas City for the American Academy of Family Physicians national conference for students and residents. He proposed resolutions to end the AAFP-Coca Cola alliance and to establish a single payer task force. Both lost, but they were very close votes!

July 19-25th

Tilly and I spent Monday and Tuesday packing for our trip to Florida to see my sisters family. We got there Wednesday and went out to eat on the beach at Jimmy Buffets restaurant Margaritaville. Tilly was immediately loving the attention from favorite cousin Cece and the two of them were besties the rest of the trip. We did a lot of prep work for Mitch's 3rd birthday the next day and then had so much fun celebrating on Saturday. It was fun to wake up and have Cece say that Tilly asked to wear her matching dress today. It was also fun to see them play non stop with each other. After the party we did baby #3 prep and got all the clothes ready for boy, girl, neutral- it is not fun not know the sex of the baby!

Richard met Uwe Reinhardt, a famous healthcare economist from Princeton, on Monday. He met with Congressman John Conyers on Wednesday to talk about strengthening the single payer coalition. Then on Friday he went with Margaret Flowers up to Albany, NY for the National Peace Conference for the weekend. He helped Dr Flowers put on a "health is a human right" workshop at the conference, and had a great time talking with people about how to heal our healthcare system.

July 12-18th

This week saw very hot temperatures, which meant more pool time to cool off in! Thursday Tilly and I headed into DC to meet Vic Snyder and everyone Richard has been working with for the last four weeks. We also got to take a mini tour of the capital and even rode on the underground subway that takes you between buildings. It was so much fun to see everything. We also went on a few downtown Annapolis visits to feed the ducks and eat some ice cream.

This was Richard's last week of the Capitol Hill internship. He made the most of it, meeting with other congressional staffers, talking with Congressmen, and attending healthcare briefings. He said on Wednesday he organized a meeting with Vic Snyder and a group of other medical students who are interning with the American Medical Association. Thursday he headed to Baltimore for the one year anniversary of Doctors for America. His last day he missed the bus and was late for our dinner at the Dunn's house. We are proud of the work he was doing but are happier now that he will be closer to home for his PNHP internship.

July 5-11th

Richard got to enjoy a holiday on Monday and we stayed home and enjoyed a nice day together, swimming and having fun. On Thursday he commuted from DC to Annapolis for a Single Payer meeting on West St, but hopped on an earlier express bus with the same number but that didn't stop on West St! We had to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to go pick him up on Kent Island and bring him to the meeting late. He felt so bad, but he said it was a good meeting and he still was able to take minutes. Over the next week he was very excited to meet with health policy legislative assistants for Congressmen Conyers and Kucinich, and Senator Wyden to talk about single payer possibilities on the state level.

On Friday, I drove into DC and met him and his fellow interns for dinner at an excellent Ethiopian restaurant called Ethiopic near Union Station. Sunday morning we went to brunch with Richard's friend's aunt and uncle at Carrol's Creek. Sunday was also the final for the World Cup, but instead of watching we drove into DC to meet up with our friends the Quigleys and meet their son. We had a lovely time swimming at their neighborhood pool and T really had a great time spraying everyone with her water gun!

Richard started his internship with the AR representative in DC on Monday. Though out the week he meet several people he knew from AR and learned a lot of about health care legislation at various briefings and hearings. Tons of babies were there and we had a great time dancing and singing. Friday night Richard and I had date night at our favorite restaurant. We enjoyed the weekend together in the lovely weather.

June 14-20th

On Monday Tilly and I took a plane to Maryland. We had a stop in Kansas city but didn't get off the plane, Tilly walked the aisle and right into the cock pit where the pilot let her come in and check out all the lights and controls. We settled in to my moms house very nicely and started going swimming daily, meeting up with friends, and going to our favorite restaurant.
Richard spent the week cleaning out the Portland house and studying for his final. After his final on Friday morning, he played one last show with his band at the funky church. The next day he hopped on a plane with Bruno and joined us in Maryland! The 20th was fathers day and we spent it enjoying a lovely dinner and boat ride with the Dunns.

Not to much this week, Richard studied a lot and had a few meetings. Tilly and I said bye to our friends and took some last tram rides. I went to the ORFN farewell party for those residents who are moving out of state. For the most part we packed up the house and when Saturday came we got a zipcar truck and voodoo donuts and had our friends come help us move the stuff to our new home.

May 31st- June 6th

May 24-30th

After school on Monday Richard dropped Tilly and I off at sushi land while he went to band practice. We took the tram up so we could have one last ride before it closed for the week. Richard spent a lot of time with Tilly this week and it has been tons of fun. Tilly got a little sick on Wednesday and has had a cough ever since so we have been laying low, and sleeping a lot. Friday Richard left for our friends wedding in Chicago and will get back on Monday. Tilly and I went to the farmers market on Saturday and even though she was still feeling a little sick she walked around the market with her carrot, until we got to dave's killer bread where she had to have a 2nd sample. The weather has been so rainy again this week, but when there is a sun break we are out side right away. Tilly walks straight to Krisanna's house and if the the next door neighbors dog is out we stop to say hi.

May 17th-23rd

This was the first week of the OHSU farmers market, and Tilly and I went after coming back from playgroup. It was very rainy but we enjoyed the music and people. We didn't have Jordan and Topher over this week, so we enjoyed the rainy Wednesday playing inside. Thursday night we all went to the student awards banquet, where Richard's VACUUM project won runner up. Richard went to the Follies Friday night which  is like a roast of the first years so there were lots of laughs. Saturday we all went to the children's museum to meet Richards grade school friend and his family. The girls had tons of fun and we bumped into so many friends. Sunday Richard went to a potluck while Tilly and I stayed in and rested. The weather has been mostly rainy so we have been keeping busy with indoor fun, and trying to pack for our summer move.

April 26th- May 2nd

This week has been so busy for us. Tilly and I had a playdate/ORFN meeting where I accepted the position of president starting next month. Later that day we went to Picture People and had some very cute pictures taken of the three of us. Tuesday I let Tilly help me bake some cookies, which turned out great and just a cup or so of flour was tossed all over. We played with Jordan and Topher on Wednesday and went for a few walks. We had David over for dinner that night for yummy mushroom lasagna. On Thursday we had a party with Moses, Jordan, and Topher all over in the evening, we had fun dancing around and playing music (Moses sang us many songs including one he made up for Topher and Tilly). Its seems like Friday I was cleaning all day with lots of help from Tilly, at one point I was straightening books and noticed she was going in and out of her room, I found out she had taken all the folded clothes from the laundry hamper and stuffed them in her half open bottom drawer!! What a helper! Saturday Richard took Tilly to the farmers market and watched the May Day dancers, while I stayed home and worked on some sewing. Later that night we celebrated Cinco de Mayo style at the Sanders home for Davids birthday.
Richard saw a standardized patient on Monday, and saw his baby beeper patient on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning he had a leadership breakfast with his advisor. Thursday he had an exam and that night he had the last session of his health reform elective. Saturday he saw one of his ADHD patients. Today he was interviewed by a KBOO and Street Roots reporter about the vacuum project.

April 19-25th

This week Tilly and I had Jordan and Topher over on Wednesday as usual, that will be a weekly thing now until we leave for the summer. Its always fun to have friends for Tilly to play with and its really fun to see how she interacts with an older girl and younger boy. The next day we met a few friends from story time at the zoo and stayed for quite a while, she had tons of fun with the goats, and birds, but liked running around more than looking at the other animals.

Richard taught the Brain in a Box program on Tuesday at a local middle school.Friday he organized a noon time PNHP speaker series event on the new health bill that went very well. 50 students from the school of medicine, dental, nursing and pharmacy showed up to hear Dr. Huntington speak.

That weekend we drove down to Bend, OR for Oregon Medical Association house of delegates meeting. Tilly and I had a blast swimming in the pool at the hotel  while Richard was at his meetings. We attended the banquet with him Saturday night and were proud when he and 2 other students accepted a donation for the med school from the OMA. We drove back in the beautiful scenery of the mountains surrounding us and horses and cows galore on the side of the road.

April 12-18th

This was another very busy week. With Cover the Uninsured week happening Richard was busy with tons of talks and meetings. Tilly and I spent most of the week outside enjoying the lovely weather and finding new paths to walk along. We all went to the PA kick ball tournament on saturday, it was so much fun. Tilly and I cheered on the Kick In the Box team with Krisanna. KIB team did really well winning 3 games and just missing the championship game! Tilly had so much fun giving fist bumps after each game and playing with her pom pom. Later that night with went to a pot luck with some other 1st years and chatted about how things were going. When we finally got home Tilly fell right to sleep. The next day we went to Cover the Uninsured week screening fair downtown. The VACUUM project set up a booth and got a few people to tell their stories. Tilly and I decided to stay for the whole thing and had fun saying hi to everyone. We went to lunch with some friends and headed home to relax before a new fun filled week began.

April 5-11th

So much has been going on recently its been hard to keep track of everything! Richard was super busy this week with meetings and brain in the box and getting his video clip ready for project access now dinner we went to on the 8th, our 4th wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful dinner, lots of wonderful people and great conversation. Tilly stayed at her friend Moses house and fell asleep before we came to pick her up! Our friend Fletcher's parents were in town so we went to his house for dinner and to play in his awesome tipi in the back yard. The weekend was somewhat quite but it was so nice out that we were very active throughout.

March 29th- April 4th

After getting back from a nice relaxing spring break we jumped right in to a busy week. Tilly and I had Moses over wednesday, and Jordan and Topher over on Tuesday. She loves hanging out with her friends, she learns so much from them. Wednesday we went to Richard's small group PCM class where Tilly volunteered as a patient. We got there early to check in and noticed Richard in the lecture hall. Tilly pointed him out and screamed "there he is.. dada.. dada" We walked up the side and Tilly got to sit with him for the rest of the lecture. I watched from the hall as she gave fist bumps to all of the people sitting near them. Once the lecture was over we met in the small group class room and talked about what toddlers should be doing at that age. The teacher's 2 1/2 yr old was also there so Tilly and she ran around the room while the class went on. We had fun on Thursday seeing all our friends at story time we hadn't seen for a while and we had a nice relaxing day on Friday. Saturday we went to the ORFN easter egg hunt and had a blast with all the kids. Easter Sunday we went to a classmates brunch in the morning and went to Krisanna's mom's house for dinner. Tilly played with Anna and Miles there and we all had a great time!

Richard had just as busy of a week. On Monday he had a teleconference with his Health Care For All committee. Wednesday he and three of his classmates interviewed 9 uninsured people for their Vacuum project. Thursday he had a Student Council meeting, Friday he had precept with the doctor he's shadowing, and Saturday he did ADHD research.

March 21st-28th

We had a wonderful spring break! The first half we relaxed at home having dinner with friends and playing with Richard non stop. On Wednesday we drove up to Seattle and stayed at my aunt Susans house. Its always fun there, good food, beautiful family, and a fun Lucky dog that Tilly just adores. We headed out early the next day to catch the ferry to Ocas Island. Once there we drove the rest of the way to Doe Bay and checked in to our sweet little cabin. It was a little rainy that day so we just relaxed in door, met most our friends at the kitchen and shared a good meal. Friday we went for several nice walks around doe bay, Tilly loves the outdoors and we tried to keep up with her on all the paths through the woods. We had such a nice meal at the cafe there before Richards band played. We even celebrated his and our friend Allison's 30th birthday with some yummy cake. The band was wonderful, Tilly and I had to blow a kiss to Richard and head to bed after a few songs. Saturday we explored the island, heading to the top of Mt. Constitution, to a few lakes and in to town. We had a little lunch there in east bank then headed back for nap time. After a refreashing nap we went to the soaking tups and relaxed in the nice warm water. We shared another meal with all our friends by the fire and Tilly tried her first ever smore!! She loved it of course! Sunday we packed up and waved bye bye to the water. The drive home was alright, seemed very long but it was Richards birthday so had a good time. :) Its good to be home but that was such a wonderful vacation.

March 7th-20th

I will have to recap the past 2 weeks together since I've been slacking on my blogging.

The 10th- 14th Richard went to LA for a national AMSA (american medical student assoc) conference. He presented a poster for his VACUUM (Voices And Concerns of the Uninsured & Underinsured Millions) video project that won first place in the community service projects division! He was also appointed to the national Health Care For All committee.  It was no fun having him gone but Tilly and I stayed busy. We went out each day, met with friends, went to story time, and went on lots of walks. On Sunday Richard was going to get in at 9pm so I took Tilly to the children's museum and then just because it was right next door we went to the zoo. She LOVED the goats, we could have stayed there all day. We got back home around 2 and found a tinkerbell in her bed!! Richard got home early and surprised us, it was so much fun!!

The next week was so fun and flew by. We had Moses over on tuesday and had tons of fun. St. Patty's day Tilly and I both came down with a cold but it didn't stop us from dressing in all green :) We made a yummy marshmallow cake for Richard's small group PCM class and since he had so many meetings that day we delivered it to the classroom. Match day was the 18th, where the 4th years find out where they will go for residency. I can't wait for Richards turn.. 3 years to go!! Richard was studying in all his free time throughout the week for his SPH exam on the 19th. We had Krisanna and David over that night for dinner to say Bon Voyage before they headed to Paris for spring break. Saturday we went to the opening of the farmers market, Tilly had a great time people and doggie watching, and we had a great time getting all of our groceries.
What a great 2 weeks! This week will be even better I'm sure, Richard didn't even look at his email for a whole day- thats huge! (he had like 100 when he finally checked).

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Feb 28th- March 6th

This was a crazy fun week! Monday Richard had his SPH exam in the morning, a meeting in the afternoon, and came home and took Tilly and me to the children's museum where we had almost the whole place to ourselves. Tilly took to painting her face and loved running around.

The rest of the week it was so beautiful outside, we walked to our neighbor's house most days and point out the different color flowers and the statue of a bunny that is on the hill. We had an amazing meal at Krisanna's on Thursday night while Richard was at his Health care reform elective. In the morning on Friday Tilly and I went to the Children's museum with Krisanna and Miles, we ran into a few friends while we were there so it was even more fun! Friday night was PROM!! We had Jami over to sit with T while she slept so she came over early for dinner and to play. We headed to Krisanna's and David's to take our pre-prom pictures, then on to the Jupiter Hotel, where many of Richard's classmates had gathered to celebrate. We had a wonderful time!

Feb 21st- 27th

This was a nice week and it went by so fast. Richard had been studying for his PCM exam on Wednesday and his exam he will have next Monday. He had a few extra meetings and a few parties to attend. Tilly and I went with him to his PCM small group dinner at his teachers house.
It was a lot of fun to hang out with his class mates, they are a great bunch. Tilly and I did a lot of things outside this week since the weather was nice. On the rainy Friday we went to the art museum, she stayed on my front in the ergo tote and liked to point to all the paintings. She has been sleeping very well except for that Friday night when she kept us on our toes for about 5 hours. Toward the end of those 5 hours she nestled in to my shoulder and put her arms in between our chests- it made being up from 1-5 much better! There's no where I would rather be then holding my sweet girl!!

Fed 14- 20th

This was a really fun week. Having Richard home for the 3 day presidents day weekend was awesome. We celebrated valentines a night early with dinner alone while Tilly played at Moses house. We had a great night out and when we got home and tucked little T in to bed Richard gave me a new camera!! I was so surprise and excited, I spent most the night and next day playing with it. We spent valentines all together and enjoyed the lovely weather. Richard spent most of his day off on Monday with us, again spending as much time as we could in the sun. He got back to business in the evening and went to study. He had his solo osce exam on Thursday which I'm sure he did well on. While he was at school Tilly and I went with Krisanna to the Children's Museum. After the exam we met Allen, Krisanna, David and some visiting friends from LA for dinner. Richard took Tilly out Saturday to breakfast and swimming. They even stopped by the library for story time. I love hearing the stories of what she does when I'm not around- Richard said after story time she got her jacket, gave him his, dragged the backpack behind her and headed to the bathroom- as to say 'this is whats next dada'. She is so sweet!!

Feb 7th - 13th

This was somewhat of a slow week for us. Richard had a few meetings on Monday, along with AFP study group to go over things for their exam on Friday. Tuesday was breakfast with his faculty advisor, then class and preceptorship. After his first exam for SPH he and Allen met with one of the deans to discuss a possible internship with some of the faculty.
This week has been wonderful as we have spent a lot of time together, and with our friends. Richard has been able to come home and make us dinner most nights and even the night before the exam we had David and Geoffrey over for some yummy tacos.
Its been a great week!

Jan 31st- Feb 6th

This has been a very busy week. Monday was Richard's final test for CSF, right after the test he went to the PNHP talk by a national speaker Dr. Oli Fein here at OHSU that he helped organize. Followed by another talk from Dr. Fein at PSU. He came home to pick us up and we all went to dinner with the PNHP people who were in town for the events. We left dinner for the Healthcare Reform panel at held at Providence. We of course had to leave early to get little T home to sleep but Richard went back to meet everyone for the after party. Tuesday he started his new class SPH (Systems, Processes, and Homeostasis) and attended a psychiatry video at lunch. He then had preceptorship at CHH where T and I met him upon returning from downtown for the tram ride up, since he was going to his senate meeting right after and we were missing him. After the senate meeting he had the PNHP pdx meeting and stayed out til pretty late. Tilly and I had Krisanna over to watch Lost and had a great fondue party!! Wednesday was another long day, SPH in the morning and a VACUUM meeting during lunch followed by PCM and a Family Medicine ward walk until 6:30pm. Thursday we all made our way to the dentist at 7 in the morning, Tilly and I stayed downtown to go to story time and do a little shopping and Richard hurried back to class. He got home around 4 after the donating some blood. Friday he had class and another lunch meeting for PNHP. He stayed at school and studied for awhile because Tilly and I were at the Childrens' museum with Miles, Luanne, and Krisanna. When he got home we all got ready to go to the Family Medicine dinner. It was a casual get-to-know-you dinner with the 4th years who were sharing their wisdom on applying for residencies. We sat and ate and chatted with some great people but had to leave early so Richard could make it to band practice and Tilly could go to sleep. Saturday Richard woke up early with Tilly then headed out to work on the ADHD study- he came home just in time to make us dinner!

Tilly was amazing this week, no matter where we were she was always happy. Her new thing is fist bumps or knuckles- She can't just give one, once she gets going she has to go around the room. Most of the time she is the hit of the party!

Jan 24th-30th

The 24th we celebrated Anna's birthday at the Children Museum and had the best time! There is so much there to explore, and Tilly loved that she could run around by herself touch everything and make lots of messes. She had a great night sleep that night! Maybe we need to go there more often. Monday and Tuesday Tilly and I organized a little bit, well I did most of that while she disorganized her books. Wednesday night Richard and I went to Podnah's bbq for a date night. We hadn't been on one in about 7 months!! We took Tilly over to Moses's house and I of course was wondering if she was ok the whole time I was gone - We got back to the silliest little girl in the world! She was giving fist bumps to Moses, then Cara, then me, then Richard, and over again with a great laugh each time. I was told she only noticed we were gone for just a second so I am very excited!! She is all grown up. We of course went to story time on Thursday and Saturday and played outside whenever the sun would peek through.

Richard had a busy week, He left Anna's party early with David to go to AFP. On Sunday he edited together a montage of some of the videos he has done for VACUUM which I watched when it was complete and it turned out very lovely. On Monday he went to a meeting with some of the doctors he is working on a paper with. Tuesday he went to a presentation by the Portland non-profit Medical Teams International about doing relief work in disaster-struck countries. That night he also went to a MoveOn rally downtown and met with other people promoting universal healthcare. Thursday he was interviewed by a woman making a documentary on universal healthcare--he said he was excited to tell the med student side of the story! Then he went and volunteered at the Southwest Community Health Clinic, where he sees uninsured patients who have no other access to healthcare. And of course as he likes me to point out he made time to come home and cook us dinner :)

Jan 17th-23rd

Richard did not have school on Monday for MLK day, so the 3 day weekend was great. He had plenty to work on that day, boy does he have a lot of emails to respond to! He had his regular schedule the rest of the week and manged to fit in the ADHD study he works on and had his Healthcare Reform elective. As well as PNHP meeting and Sleep apnea support group. On saturday he had another Princeton interview. So he kept plenty busy, and as always managed to spend lots of time with us, even cooked us dinner each night. I will never know how he does it all!

Tilly and just hung out most of the week, We had Moses over on Wed., went to story time on Thursday and Saturday, and got creative with crayons and stamps at home. She is growing up so fast. She ate TONS of fruit, I thought she might turn into a mango!

Jan 10th-16th

Another wonderful and busy week. Richard started the week with an advisor meeting with Dr. Taylor, went to class and came home and studied. Tuesday he had class and preceptorship and of course studied. Wednesday he had class, more meetings, PCM and AFP. Thursday he had the day off from school, he spent most of the day studing for the exam on Friday morning. Tilly and I had Moses over and we went to story time at the library. After the exam on Friday morning, we all had dentist appointments then we all went to Nick's Coney Island food for a dinner with the Dean of the School of Medicine, Dr Mark Richardson and his wife Ellen. Saturday we all went swimming in the morning. Tilly loved the water and wanted to blow bubbles, I had a hard time keeping her in my arms - it will be no time before she is swimming on her own. Tilly and I came home for a nap, and Richard went to interview 2 highschoolers for Princeton. He came home to play for a minute then went to band practice. His band changed names to Xul Solar, they just put out a cd and it sounds great- you can find some of the songs on their facebook page.

Jan 3-9th

Richard is back at school and has gotten back into his regular activities of CSF, Precept, and PCM along with his regular added-on, over-achiever activities. He had his baby beeper appt. this week, a CSF forum the first day back, a senate meeting, and an elective class he helped organize which is on Health Care Reform. He amazes me with how much things he can do in just one week and still come home to play with Tilly and cook a great meal.

Tilly and I have been re-organizing the house, pulling out the next size clothes, putting the small clothes away for my soon-to-be-new nephew or niece (my guess is nephew). We went to playgroup today and didn't see any of our regular friends but hope to catch up with everyone once the group is regular again. She was pretty independent today, playing in her room while I cleaned in the kitchen - I went to check on her several times and she was just talking to her toys while pulling them out of the basket. We had another game night with Krisanna and David this week - It never gets old, I wish we could do it every night!! We also started the Your Baby Can Read books, which are so fun! Tilly likes to look as you read and point, she has even waved when she sees the word "wave," or clapped when that word comes around. She is just so much fun!!
I got so spoiled having Richard home for 2 weeks that it seems unfair that a test is next friday and he has to put a lot of study time in. I have to keep thinking its only 2 more months until spring break- what should we do then??

Dec 27th- Jan 2

We had a great week, lounged around and hung out with friends. Celebrated 2 of our friends' birthdays. And did a lot of things together. Tilly really loved being with Richard for such a long time, she now goes to the door when he is at school and says, "Dada?" We celebrated the new year by counting down around 6, then putting Tilly to sleep. We then fell asleep ourselves but were woken up by Tilly around 11:30pm, so we did get to ring in the new year. Tilly was put back to sleep pretty quickly so she got her new year's kisses in the morning. We ended the week with a fun filled Sunday. Stopped by our friend's jammy birthday party, picked a neighbor up at the airport, watched a little arkansas football with fletcher, then stayed up til almost midnight playing clue, banana grams, and wii with our neighbors. It was a great ending to the break.
